On June 6th, Muslim families and friends from Indonesia, India, and Taiwan joined a special Muslim-friendly day tour in Yilan to experience local culture, agricultural activities, and the welcoming hospitality of Northeast Taiwan.
The journey combined hands-on farming experiences, cultural exploration, and Muslim-friendly services, creating an enjoyable day for participants of all ages.
Harvesting Scallions at Sinbow Leisure Farm
The adventure began at Sinbow Leisure Farm, one of Yilan's most popular agricultural experience destinations.
Participants entered the scallion fields to harvest fresh Sanxing scallions and learn about local farming practices. Family and younger participants especially enjoyed the chance to interact with nature and gain firsthand experience of Taiwan's agricultural lifestyle.
Making Traditional Taiwanese Scallion Pancakes
After their scallion harvest, the participants learned the secret of making authentic Taiwanese scallion pancakes.
Both educational and entertaining, the participants transformed their scallions and other ingredients into an iconic local snacking specialty, making the activity one of the day’s most memorable highlights.
Enjoying Muslim-Friendly Local Cuisine
The group then took a Muslim-friendly lunch at Everlasting Spring, where all relaxed and shared their experiences of the morning.
The meals, prepared in accordance with Halal standards, were tailored to showcase the best in local flavor and hospitality.
Discovering Local Flavors at Yisiang Countryside
The itinerary also included a stop at Yisiang Countryside, a specialty shop offering a wide variety of fresh-baked bread, pastries, local delicacies and drinks made with locally sourced ingredients, is a regular magnet for visitors looking to enjoy the area’s authentic flavors.
Many bought items to share with family and friends back home, extending the flavors of Yilan and the joy of Eid Al-Adha beyond the day trip. The warm shopping atmosphere and friendly hospitality added another memorable touch to the day.
Exploring the National Center for Traditional Arts
The journey continued at the National Center for Traditional Arts with an exploration of Taiwan's traditional architecture, arts, and cultural heritage.
The combination of cultural experiences and agricultural activities at the center opened for the participants a unique window onto both the historical and contemporary aspects of life in Yilan.
