Eid Al-Adha Cultural Journey in Yilan: Tea, Traditions and Muslim-Friendly Experiences

Eid Al-Adha, one of the most meaningful celebrations in the Islamic calendar, regularly brings family, friends, and communities together for gratitude, sharing, and togetherness. To help celebrate Eid Al-Adha this year, Muslim visitors and local Muslim communities were invited on a Muslim-friendly cultural journey across Northeast Taiwan to explore the beauty of Yilan.

On May 30th, participants from France, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Thailand, and Taiwan gathered in Yilan to enjoy a memorable day filled with cultural discovery, local experiences, and meaningful connections.

Discovering Yilan's Tea Culture at Xing Yuan Tea Farm

The journey began at Xing Yuan Tea Farm with participants joining in to experience one of Yilan's local specialties in a tea ice cream DIY activity. Surrounded by peaceful tea fields and mountain scenery, the participants learned about local tea culture while making their own refreshing tea-flavored desserts.

The activity provided an enjoyable introduction to Yilan's agricultural heritage as well as a unique opportunity for participants from different countries to get to know one another and share experiences.

Muslim-Friendly Dining and Community Gathering

Next, the group enjoyed a Muslim-friendly lunch at IBU Kitchen × Dongshan Bookstore. The group enjoyed a delicious Halal meal in the venue’s welcoming environment and shared stories, experiences and good conversation.

Sharing meals together is an important part of Eid celebrations. The day’s lunch provided a meaningful opportunity to both strengthen friendships and experience local hospitality.

Exploring Taiwan's Traditional Arts and Heritage

In the afternoon, participants visited the National Center for Traditional Arts, an open air, interactive experience that ranks among Taiwan's most popular cultural attractions.

The center showcases traditional architecture, folk arts, local crafts, and cultural performances, welcoming visitors to get involved and better understand Taiwan's rich cultural heritage. Participants enjoyed strolling the center’s recreated historical streets, dropping by artisan workshops, and capturing memorable photos throughout.

Experiencing Local Agricultural Products at Chen Manor

The final stop was Chen Manor, with a lively introduction to Yilan’s agriculture, specialty products, and deeply rooted rice culture.

The participants explored locally produced specialties and bought souvenirs to bring home as lasting reminders of their Eid celebration in Yilan.

A Meaningful Eid Celebration in Northeast Taiwan

This special Eid Al-Adha journey brought together Muslim friends from different countries to celebrate diversity, friendship, and cultural exchange. Through local experiences, Muslim-friendly hospitality, and meaningful interactions, participants discovered Yilan’s charms and created unforgettable memories during one of the most important festivals in the Islamic calendar.
