[TR Omnimedia / Editorial Desk] As part of ongoing work to promote Muslim-friendly travel, the Taiwan Tourism Administration’s Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration (Northeast Coast Tourism Administration) held two “Muslim Travel Experience in Taiwan” events, respectively, on May 30th and June 6th.
Timed to coincide with the Eid al-Adha holidays, Muslim friends and families living in Taiwan enjoyed the organized food, culture, and hands-on experiences, with prayer-space arrangements made throughout. The participants celebrated the festival and shared joy and blessings while exploring the tourism appeal and Muslim-friendly environments across the region.

The events’ 48 Muslim participants, including 10 children, hint at the appeal of Muslim-friendly travel in the Northeast Coast area for families. Their diverse backgrounds, from France, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Thailand, Taiwan, and elsewhere, further added a cross-culture atmosphere to the activities.
The two itineraries combined Muslim-friendly dining, prayer arrangements, and local hands-on experiences. The first (May 30th) included a tea ice-cream DIY activity, visit to the National Center for Traditional Arts, and souvenir shopping. The second (June 6th) featured scallion-picking DIY, a Muslim-friendly lunch with prayer arrangements, and cultural experiences at the National Center for Traditional Arts. The experiences and full-day itinerary arrangements let participants partake in Yilan’s slow-travel allure and the Northeast Coast’s scenic diversity.

Participants were deeply impressed by Yilan’s traditional culture and local experience opportunities as well as the Muslim-friendly dining arrangements. They also noted that the convenience of intercity and local transportation options and easy pace of travel in and around the region made Yilan and the Northeast Coast ideal for short trips with family and friends. Importantly, the two events helped local travel operators better appreciate the needs and cultural practices of Muslim travelers, providing an important reference for further improving services and hospitality arrangements going forward.
Muslim participants active on social media and others willing to help promote the experience were particularly encouraged to join one or both events. In sharing their travel experiences on Instagram and Reels, they helped further increase the exposure and social media reach of Muslim-friendly travel in the Northeast Coast area.
The Northeast Coast Tourism Administration has in recent years worked in earnest to promote and guide the development of Muslim-friendly travel environments throughout its purview. Looking ahead, the Administration will continue connecting local operators, experience activities, and unique tourism resources to build a more comprehensive Muslim-friendly travel environment and welcome more Muslim residents and overseas visitors to the Northeast Coast to experience its beautiful mountain-and-sea scenery, local culture, and slow-travel appeal.
